A couple things on my mind...

Hey Folks! Happy Friday! You doin good? If we haven't met feel free to reply and say "hey." A couple things on my mind... 1. Marketing Calendar vs. Weekly Growth Meetings: I’ve been fractionally leading marketing for about 6 years, and my core thesis has always been to operate on a 7-day cycle where early growth is measured week by week. The issue is that this weekly lens leaves out marketing-calendar moments like Black Friday or big launches, so I’d drop reminders into our weekly sheet but...

Hey folks! Happy Friday! Today the electrician’s at our house finishing the wiring for our new sauna, and I’m giddy. Everett and I spent 12+ hours this week assembling it, and with snow in the forecast next week, we’re hoping it’s ready today. It’s a 10-man sauna, so if you want to swing by for a session, let me know. A couple things on my mind… 1. Stop Treating Your Work Like a Stepping Stone: I heard this great quote from James Clear this week: “When you stop treating your current...

Hey folks! Happy Friday! A couple things on my mind... 1. Every Platform Has It's Own "Speed": I heard this concept in a Kallaway video recently: it's that every digital platform: email, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok, blogs - has a distinct pace for how people consume content. If you’re scrolling Instagram and a 35-minute YouTube video appears, you’ll skip it. You’re not in that mode. Everybody keeps ignoring this constantly and keeps trying to move people off platform (“Watch the full...

Hey folks! Happy Friday! I'm writing this a day early because Chandler and I have our last quarterly offsite of 2025 tomorrow morning (3 weeks late...) A couple things on my mind... 1. Science Of Scaling: Anybody ever read The Science of Scaling by Dr. Benjamin Hardy? I read it this week and absolutely loved it. The main idea is that for any organization to really focus, you need to create a BIG goal, and then shorten the timeline to borderline ridiculous - that will create organizational...

Hey Folks! Happy Friday! A couple things on my mind... 1. AI Onboarding / Pod Pitch: I just signed up for Pod Pitch (no affiliate) last week for a client and was seriously blown away at their onboarding experience. They were doing all the normal stuff well - discovery call, onboarding call, etc... but what I was super impressed by was how they integrated AI into the onboarding. For instance, rather than have me fill out info about my client, they just pulled his LinkedIn automatically and...

Hey folks, We’re on day 7/7 of being outside around a bonfire, and fall has officially fallen in Kentucky. Things are good. A couple things on my mind… 1. Pricing Surveys: This is super nerdy, but I've been doing Van Westendorp Pricing Studies lately to help people figure out pricing and packaging. Pricing surveys are tricky: If you ask “How much would you pay for X?” people bargain with you. If you ask “Would you pay $Y for X?” the data usually isn’t predictive of actual behavior. Enter Van...

Hey folks! About to head out tent camping with the whole fam this weekend! Wish us luck - first time as a family of 9! A couple things on my mind... 1. Superhuman Product x Market Fit (PMF) Survey: I've been doing this survey for clients lately and I just can't speak highlly enough about how much clarity it gives you. The core question is simple: “If [your company] no longer existed, how disappointed would you be? Very, somewhat, or not disappointed?” From there, you can get 4 main insights:...

Hey Folks! Happy Friday! A couple things on my mind… 1. Four Fits For AI Era: Brian Balfour’s product-market fit article is one of my favorites of all time. I meet with at least 5 startups a week, and I’ve found Product x Market x Model x Channel to be the easiest way to quickly understand a company and diagnose their opportunities for growth. Well, he just updated that model based on what’s happening in AI - and it’s excellent. Highly recommend this article. I found it extremely insightful....

Hey Folks! Happy Friday! A couple things on my mind… 1. One-Line Emails: I picked up this email strategy from John Meese and finally tried it this week for a client. I got 10x more leads than their six-week average. Wild. The entire email is just a one-liner to your existing nurture list: “Hey [Name], would you be interested in working with me to [promise]?” That’s it. When people reply, you just talk like a normal human instead of shoving them into a funnel. The reason it works for high...

Hey Folks! Happy Friday. A couple things on my mind…1. OneSec: I’ve been struggling to stay off social media lately - partly because I’m on it every day helping clients with strategy, and partly because I’ve got a 6-month-old, so the afternoon lull is very real. I came across a helpful extension called OneSec. It doesn’t block social media, but it does encourage me to pause and ask, “Do I really need to do this right now?” That little nudge, combined with full blocks of time for deep work,...
